WhatsApp API for Shopify

WhatsApp API for Shopify, with your store's data inside the chat

ConexiaChat connects the official WhatsApp API to your Shopify store: multiple agents on the same number, with order history right next to every conversation.

This isn't a CRM with WhatsApp bolted on. It's a support inbox built for one specific case: a Shopify store getting more messages than fit on one phone.

What is the WhatsApp API, and how is it different from WhatsApp Business?

The WhatsApp Business app is built for one phone. The official API is Meta's way for an entire team to reply from the same number, straight from a piece of software.

The usual mix-up is thinking the API is “the paid version of WhatsApp.” It isn't: it's a different way of connecting. Instead of an app on a phone, your number gets connected to a platform where several people work at the same time, and where your store's data can flow in.

The app's five devices are the hard limit WhatsApp sets, and it's the ceiling almost everyone hits eventually. On cost, since July 1, 2025 Meta stopped charging per 24-hour conversation and started charging per delivered template message; replying to a customer who wrote less than 24 hours ago still costs nothing.

What changes once the API is connected to your Shopify store?

You stop asking for the order number. The moment you open the chat, you already see who's writing, how much they've bought, and where their shipment is.

This is the part a generic CRM doesn't do. The conversation and the store stop being two separate tabs:

  • No need to add the contact. The phone number alone is enough to know if they're a customer and what they've bought. Nobody has to cross-reference anything by hand.
  • The full profile, right next to the chat: LTV, number of orders, and how long they've been a customer.
  • The current order, in real time: status, tracking link, and an abandoned cart when there is one.
  • The AI checks the same thing you would. When someone asks “where's my order?” at eleven at night, the AI agent looks up the real order and answers with the actual data, not a template.
  • Every reply is logged by who sent it, with internal notes the customer never sees.

When does the WhatsApp Business app start falling short?

When two people need to reply at once, when the number lives on one specific person's phone, or when you've lost track of what's still unanswered.

  • Two agents open the same chat and end up stepping on each other's replies.
  • The number lives on one person's phone, and when that person is off, the store goes silent.
  • There's no way to tell who answered what, or how long it took.
  • Your account gets banned and you find out there was no backup plan. It's the single most common reason people end up here.
  • Every question means opening Shopify in another tab to find the order.

None of these five problems get fixed by adding more devices. They get fixed by changing how you connect, which is exactly what the official API does.

How do you connect it?

Three steps, under five minutes, no code and no QR code to scan.

  1. 1 Install the app from the Shopify App Store One click. Your store's data is available from the first moment.
  2. 2 Connect your WhatsApp number The connection is guided from the platform itself. You can keep the number your store already uses or set up a new one.
  3. 3 Describe your business and turn on the AI You explain in plain language how you want it to respond and during which hours. When it hits a complex case, or the customer asks for a person, it escalates and pauses automation.

How much does it cost?

From $29/month, billed straight to your Shopify store invoice. No new vendor to sign up for, no extra card to enter.

Full details are on the pricing page. If you run out of AI messages before the month ends, you can buy extra packs from the app: 300 for $3, 500 for $5, or 1,000 for $10, and they don't expire.

On top of the plan, Meta bills template messages separately, and those depend on the country and the template category. Replying inside the 24-hour window has no messaging cost.

How is this different from a CRM with WhatsApp added?

A CRM sells you funnels, pipelines, and dozens of features. ConexiaChat does one thing: handle the messages of a Shopify store.

The difference shows up on the invoice and in whether the team actually uses it. One customer came from paying over $100 a month for a platform full of features they never used, with an interface their team avoided. Today they pay $29 and their team uses it, because the screen looks like WhatsApp and there's nothing new to learn.

  • Shopify only. If your store isn't on Shopify, this isn't for you, and we'd rather say so upfront than later.
  • Customer support only. No sales pipeline, no deal management.
  • No bulk broadcasting. This isn't a campaigns tool.
  • We're a Meta Tech Provider, so the connection runs through the official channel, not shortcuts that tend to end in a ban.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep my current WhatsApp Business number?

Yes. Coexistence lets you connect the official API to the number your store already uses, syncing contacts and up to 180 days of history. It's covered in detail on the page about keeping your number.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. The connection is guided from the platform itself, in a few clicks. No code, no webhooks to configure, no QR code to scan.

How many agents can reply from the same number?

As many as you need, at the same time. That's the limit the official API breaks: the WhatsApp Business app caps out at one phone plus four linked devices, five total. The setup details are on the AI chatbot page.

What Shopify data shows up in the chat?

The customer's profile (LTV, number of orders, customer since), the real-time status of the current order, shipment tracking links, and an abandoned cart when there is one. You don't need to have the contact saved: the phone number is enough.

Does the AI reply on its own, or does it just suggest replies?

Both, and you decide. It can reply autonomously during the hours you set, or just suggest a reply for an agent to review. When a case gets complicated, it escalates to a person and pauses automation.

Are my conversations used to train AI models?

No. The messages the AI processes are sent to OpenAI only to generate the reply, and under their commercial policies for developers, they are not used to train or improve their public models.

How does billing work?

Through Shopify. The charge lands on your store's invoice, alongside your other apps, so there's no new vendor to sign up for and no extra card to enter.

Does it work if my store isn't on Shopify?

No. ConexiaChat is built on native Shopify integration, and without it you lose exactly what makes it different: customer data inside the chat.
